QuantiParts now product responsible for Vasa 14 and 24 engines

QuantiParts is proud to announce that it has been made product responsible for the Wärtsilä Vasa 14 and 24 engine types. The transfer of the total Sales, Technical and Logistic responsibility will be done in steps. The target is to complete the transfer in Q3-2017.

Main goal of a specifically set up transfer team is to optimize the support of this older engine and keep
them running. The transfer means a stronger presence in specific market segments for Wärtsilä.

Parts on stock for these engine types will move from CDC Kampen to the QuantiParts warehouse in Zwolle,
during Q2.

QuantiParts is a dedicated company specifically established for the support of older engine types.
The product portfolio of QuantiParts, consisting of selected classic Wärtsilä engines whose production
may have been discontinued, benefits from a lean operating model suited for the market segments in which these engines are still operating.

QuantiParts employs about 70 people in Zwolle and in France. All employees are former Wärtsilä employees who bring the Wärtsilä legacy and expertise with them. QuantiParts
serves its customers worldwide.

QuantiParts and Méca-Diesel attended Euro Maritime 2017 in Paris

From 31st of January until 2nd of February 2017 the Euro Maritime trade show was held in Paris.
Quantiparts together with our Distributor Méca Diesel attended this important event.
A number of private customers, governmental organizations and representatives from the Dutch and Finnish embassies have taken the opportunity to visit the expedition and discuss in a pleasant atmosphere with the Meca Diesel and Quantiparts staff.
There has even been a visit to our stand by the French Prime Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, which drew a lot of attention of the present media.

Meca Diesel and Quantiparts would like to thank all of our customers and distributors who have visited the stand during the three days of the Salon Euro Maritime.

Motor van viskotter TX 94 wordt door Wärtsilä Harlingen overhaalt

In mei zullen er delen zoals cilinderkoppen van de voortstuwingsmotor van de TX94 even niet in het schip te vinden zijn, maar in Harlingen bij Wärtsilä. Het type verraadt de reden: 6SW280, een klassieke motor, een ‘echte Stork’.
En aangezien Wärtsilä bij dochteronderneming Quantiparts deze oorspronkelijke onderdelen altijd in huis heeft, kiest schipper Boersen uit Texel ervoor om de grote beurt die eens in de 7-10 jaar nodig is, hier te laten doen. De monteurs van Wärtsilä zullen de hele motor overhalen, de viskotter zit dan namelijk alweer aan zijn 48.000 uren en dan is het weer tijd.
Het schip dat de naam ‘De avontuur’ draagt, zal dan in de haven van Texel liggen waar tegelijkertijd van de gelegenheid gebruik wordt gemaakt om ook aan de netten en de radars onderhoud te doen. De motor wordt in de haven van Texel op het schip gedemonteerd, de onderdelen worden naar Harlingen overgebracht en maken een week later weer de terugreis naar het eiland.

Harlingen is voor Wärtsilä dé plek om de Nederlandse vissersvloot te bedienen boven de lijn Amsterdam-Enschede. De Urker vissers komen hier bijvoorbeeld elke donderdagnacht terug met hun vangst en leggen hun boot aan de kade totdat ze zondagnacht weer uitvaren. “Op vrijdag en zaterdag is het hier dus behoorlijk druk”, zegt Johan Penninga, accountmanager bij Wärtsilä. “Binnenkort kunnen schippers hier dan ook met creditcard en pin betalen en onderdelen die op voorraad zijn komen ophalen, deze optie is onlangs mogelijk gemaakt bij QuantiParts in Zwolle. We zijn heel blij dat we hen zo direct zullen kunnen bedienen. Dat scheelt hen enorm veel tijd.” In dit verband kun je denken aan verstuivers of filters die machinisten zelf kunnen overhalen.

DRS en QuantiParts zijn een distributiesamenwerking aangegaan

Op 28 december 2016 zijn Diesel Repair Stellendam en Quantiparts een distributiesamenwerking aangegaan voor een periode van 3 jaar. In deze samenwerking is Diesel Repair Stellendam aangewezen als officieel distributeur voor originele onderdelen voor Stork Werkspoor, Deutz, Deutz-MWM, SACM, Poyaud en Bolnes motoren voor specifiek toegewezen klanten in de beroepsscheepvaart en landinstallaties in het zuiden van Nederland.

Diesel Repair Stellendam is sinds 2002 gespecialiseerd in reparatie, revisie en onderhoud van dieselmotoren vanuit hun vestiging in Vlissingen. Quantiparts is bijzonder verheugd met deze aanvulling omdat Diesel Repair Stellendam dezelfde waarden nastreeft waar het gaat om klanttevredenheid en leveren van kwaliteit.

 

Tevens is de expertise van zowel Leo Stoutjesdijk en Hans Jonker een waardevolle aanvulling op het bestaande dienstenpakket van Quantiparts. Als distributeur heeft Diesel Repair Stellendam 24 uur per dag toegang tot een voorraad van 40 000 verschillende onderdelen vanuit het centrale magazijn in Zwolle.

DRS and QuantiParts sign Distributor agreement

On 28th of December 2016, Diesel Repair Stellendam ( DRS ) and QuantiParts signed a 3 year distributor agreement. With this agreement DRS is appointed the distributor for the supply of original parts of Stork Werkspoor, Deutz, Deutz-MWM, SACM, Poyaud and Bolnes engines for specific Marine Market and Land based Installations in the South of Holland.
DRS is a company specialized in the repair, revision and maintenance of Diesel engines in the Marine Market and have been doing this since 2002 from Vlissingen ( NL ). QuantiParts is pleased to have the DRS hands-on mentality and quality focus on-board. The technical knowledge of Hans Jonker and Leo Stoutjesdijk is a valuable addition to the existing Service offering of QuantiParts.
As distributor Diesel Repair Stellendam has 24/7 access to 40 000 different parts from the central stock location in Zwolle.

QuantiParts Opens Pick-Up and Sales Counter

As of the 2nd of January 2017, QuantiParts’ pick-up counter in Zwolle is open for business.
This counter makes it possible for customers to collect their ordered parts directly from our warehouse.

How does it work?
Customers must contact the Part Sales department, number: +31 088 980 2500 or mail: sales@quantiparts.com, to make the order and check if the parts are on stock. As soon as the availability is confirmed, pick-up of the parts can be done within an hour of the order confirmation.

Opening hours are 8.00 to 17.30 Monday to Friday and, upon agreement, on Saturday morning. Payment is possible by debit and credit card (VISA, MasterCard).

The pick-up and sales counter was opened during a Fishery day held on the 28th of December in Zwolle,
the first payments were made by some local fishermen.

QuantiParts attending Salon EuroMaritime in Paris

On the 31st of January until the 2nd of February, the EuroMaritime Salon trade show will be held in Paris Porte de Versailles. This event brings together the European maritime industry, exhibiting the latest marine and port technology and covering the specific issues of interest for international buyers and sellers, contractors and subcontractors in the industry.

Quantiparts together with MECA Diesel, our distributor in Brittany, France, will be attending the professional exhibition in the aim of showcasing our large stock in Zwolle and out technical expertise in keeping mature engines running.

Quantiparts invests in logistical capacity

To meet the increasing demand of available storage locations for our engine parts, QuantiParts has invested in the build of another 4 additional logimats.

A logimat is a vertical cabinet which increases the storage capacity by 90% compared with conventional storage solutions.
This is not only improving the capacity of our vast number of materials on stock ( 5 million OEM parts !), but also increase the
efficiency of our internal transport. We strive to constantly speed up our operation and thus reduce the time from offer to order for our customers.

Our total storage capacity will increase with 1 498 euro pallet locations when the build of the Logimats is completed and in brought into operation.

QuantiParts attending Navy exhibition Exponaval in Chile

On the 29th November until the 2nd of December 2016, the largest Latin America Navy exhibition will be held in Concón, Chile. This is a key event due its scale and the 73 attending Navies from around the globe.

QuantiParts together with Wärtsilä will be attending this event showcasing the services we provide to power and keep the navies running. Nico Roepers, our America’s Area Manager and Arthur van Oerle, our Navy specialist will be present during the event.

Appointment of the new QuantiParts Director,

Job van der Burgt has been appointed Director of QuantiParts, a Wärtsilä Company,
as of 1 November 2016. He will also be a member of the Wärtsilä Emerging Businesses
Management Team.
Job has been with Wärtsilä since 1991 and held several expert and leadership positions
in multiple countries with both local and global responsibilities. His current assignment
is General Manager in Nuclear Services in 4-Stroke Engine Services.
We welcome Job to QuantiParts and wish him success in his new responsibilities.

We thank Michel Kubbinga for the excellent job he has done in steering QuantiParts
through the first two years of it existence. He will leave QuantiParts per 1st of November
and we wish him all the best in his new task as Director Nuclear services.

In this kick-off the Stork-Werkspoor engine types are the first group of products to launch. The addition of other product types is planned at a later stage this year.

Important information for TM410 engine operators

After a period of limited availability of raw and end material QuantiParts has decided to produce a new batch of TM 410 C type cylinder heads.
These cylinder heads are fitting on the TM 410 B and C engine type and are complete with new valves, valve seats, studs and covers.

The heads have all been produced from the original engine manufacturer drawings and are of the highest quality. On stock again with the people who built the engines ….we will keep them running.

Sulzer S20 connecting rods, 3 reasons to buy QuantiParts quality.

  1. They last an engine’s life time.

An engine’s life time is considered to be the period between commissioning of the engine and the moment the engine is being scrapped or repaired after a major damage. The life time of the engine is directly depended on its reliability. In the recent past, operational costs have been unnecessarily high due the premature replacement of connecting rods and/or repair to the crankshaft. Investigation has shown that deformation of the big end bore Sulzer S20 and S20U connecting rods increased wear to crankpins. Based on an extensive investigation QuantiParts has redesigned the connecting rod for the S20 and S20U engines. With the redesigned connecting rod, the deformation of the big end bore has been addressed in such way that it will last 100.000 running hours (under normal operating conditions), and premature replacement is not necessary any more.

  1. The connecting rod is redesigned with the latest technologies.

FEM (Finite Element Method) has been the bases for the redesigned connecting rod. FEM has been used to determine the key contributors to the big end bore deformation of the Sulzer S20 and S20U connecting rods. Based on FEM results and on-site measurements on the connecting rod a new way of forging has been developed for the connecting rod. With the new way of forging the latest techniques in connecting rod machining could be selected and applied, resulting in a connecting rod of a ‘classic’ engine manufactured by means of 21st century technology. With the release of the redesigned connecting rod, our quality department keeps track on the performance of the connecting rod by means of frequent on site visits. By doing this, we can guarantee a product that complies not only with the latest technology but also the highest quality standards.

Sri Lanka Navy technical seminar 2016

There has always been a strong commitment between Wärtsilä and the Navies due to the stringent regulations set by these customers, among which also the Sri Lanka navy. Navies in general have a very long operating profile for their engines and encounter the challenges of keeping engines operating much longer than most commercial parties in the market.

Quantiparts has been established specifically to serve engines in the later phase of their life with the main goal to keep them running. Among the engines in QuantiParts service portfolio are a lot of engine types still in operation by Navies.     

QuantiParts has for the first time participated, as OEM supplier, in the yearly Navy seminar in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Many junior and senior Navy officers, even the Rear Admiral and DGE, attended the Seminar. The navy is operating several TBD620 and TBD616 Deutz engine types in their vessels. To ensure reliable operation for the coming years, it is to mutual benefit to share technical knowledge during these yearly events. During the Seminar technical issues are addressed and possible improvements on the engines are highlighted. Representing QuantiParts was the MEA Area manager and a Sr. Sales Support Specialist who is our Deutz high speed technical expert.

Global Distributor Agreement Crepelle

QuantiParts BV signed global distributor agreement together with Mares Shipping GmbH from Hamburg, Germany to take over the service activities for CREPELLE engines

QuantiParts BV, a Wärtsilä Company and Mares Shipping GmbH from Hamburg, Germany, are proud to announce that they have signed a global distributor agreement. The parties have agreed that Mares Shipping, a Spare Parts Supplier dealing with Crepelle engines for more than 40 years, will become the global QuantiParts representative for Crepelle 26 (SN, SN2, SN3 SNSSR, PSN, PSNSRR) spare parts and technical service, effective from March 1, 2016 and deals directly with Crepelle customers.

With this new global agreement, both parties become strong partners with shared passion to keep the Crepelle engines running. Both companies have the main common goal to grow the existing market and support all Crepelle customers.

From the 1st of March 2016 inquiries and orders for Crepelle engine parts should be sent to Mares Shipping directly via bu@mares.de. Mares Shipping will complete the commercial process on behalf of Quantiparts.

Reconditioning of UD 30 railway Engines

Our customer, a railway infrastructure company located in France, has three locomotives of the BB type equipped with a SACM UD30V12 engine type. On a regular basis we are suppling to this Railway company spare parts, reconditioned engines and full technical support to keep the SACM UD30V12 engine in the locomotive in excellent operational condition.

Recently we have received an order for the reconditioning of another one of the SACM UD30 V12 engines. The scope of the contract included:

• Full inspection in the Surgères Workshop.
• Repair and reconditioning of the main components such as engine blocks, cylinder head, renewal of the crankshaft and all wear parts.
• Upgrading of the engine to the latest technical developments, including modernization of the oil filtration units.
• Onsite technical assistance to re-install and test the UD engine in the locomotive.

Grote overhaalbeurt SW280-hoofdmotor in Harlingen

RN 1 in zee met Wärtsilä

URK/HARLINGEN – De 6SW280-hoofdmotor van de RN 1 ‘Sola Fide’ krijgt komende Hemelvaartsweek in Harlingen een complete overhaalbeurt. Door Wärtsilä zelf. Het contract daarvoor werd afgelopen weekend ondertekend op het verzamelkantoor van Rederij L. de Boer & Zonen op Urk.

 

Voor Account-Manager Johan Penninga is de overhaalbeurt zijn eerste grote klus in de visserij. Er is Penninga veel aan gelegen om de vissersvloot weer als klant terug te krijgen bij Wärtsilä. Het afgelopen decennium heeft de grote motorenfabrikant aandeel verloren. Het prijsniveau was te hoog. Als gevolg van de economische crisis weken kotterreders voor onderhoud uit naar goedkopere adressen.

De gebroeders Louwe en Andries de Boer klopten vorig jaar aan bij Marten de Vreeze, service-coördinator van Wärtsilä aan de Harlinger haven. Die bracht hen in contact met Penninga. Na pittige onderhandelingen zijn alle partijen blij met het resultaat, zeker ook de monteurs in Harlingen.

De SW280 van de boomkorkotter RN 1 zit nu zes jaar dicht. Deze krachtbron is van het bouwjaar 1995. Vanwege schade als gevolg van de flexibele koppeling heeft de motor in 2000 in Urk een grote reparatiebeurt ondergaan, en volgde na een tusseninspectie in 2007 in 2010 een eerste overhaalbeurt. Alleen het noodzakelijkste werd toen ter hand genomen.

Voor de komende overhaalbeurt worden tien werkdagen gepland met twee engineers, Willem Eckhardt en Teun Pronk, bekende Wärtsilä-gezichten in de machinekamer van de RN 1. Koppen worden gedemonteerd, er komen nieuwe hoofdlagers, zuigers worden vernieuwd, voeringen gehoond, HT- en LT-koelwaterpompen, smeeroliepomp en de 6WX-brandstofpompen worden onder handen genomen, evenals nokkenas, tussenas, hoofdstartklep, koelers, regulateur met aandrijving, etcetera.

Penninga wil benadrukken dat de techneuten eerst alles van de hoofdmotor secuur gaan opmeten. ,,Als het even kan willen we graag dat-ie daarna zeker weer een jaar of zes dicht kan blijven. Wat twijfelachtig is vervangen we daarom.’’

Een grote overhaalbeurt van een 21 jaar oude motor in plaats van een nieuwe motor is volgens de mannen economisch zeker rendabel. Penninga: ,,Deze motor is in de bloeitijd van zijn leven!’’ Andries de Boer: ,,Je moet ook rekenen dat dit soort motoren lang niet meer volop belast worden en dus een langere levensduur krijgen. Wij verdraaiden afgelopen jaar met de RN 1 gemiddeld 32 ton gasolie per visweek van ruim 100 uur.’’

Penninga doet ook de binnenvaart voor Wärtsilä en is daarbij intensief betrokken bij LNG-projecten en dual-fuel-motoren. Samen met Maaskant en Koers & Vaart wordt bestudeerd of een (nieuwbouw)kotter uitgerust kan worden om op LNG te varen.

Bolnes 190 engine rebuild completed

Quantiparts in Zwolle has completed the rebuild of the smallest 2 stroke cross head engine in the world, the Bolnes 3DNL 190/600. Starting August 2015 and during a 16 week period, the engine (including Auxiliaries) was stripped, measured, rebuilt, made customer specific, Factory Acceptance Tested and packed for transport… one week ahead of schedule.

The original engine was built in the Bolnes production
plant in Krimpen aan de Lek near Rotterdam
and served as a practice engine at the Maritime
Academy in Dordrecht.

Wärtsilä establishes subsidiary to trade parts for classic engines

Wärtsilä has established a subsidiary to trade spare parts for mature 4-stroke engines. QuantiParts, fully owned by Wärtsilä, operates from the Netherlands and serves customers in the marine, locomotive and power plant industries worldwide.
QuantiParts(TM) trades OEM (Original Engine Manufacturer) spare parts for selected mature Wärtsilä medium- and high-speed 4-stroke engines, such as Deutz, Stork, Bolnes, Sulzer A/S, Poyaud, SACM and Crepelle. The new company is based in Zwolle, the Netherlands, where its spare parts are traded from. The company’s stock consists of nearly 5.5 million components for more than 40 different engine types.
Due to a convincing technical product and application know-how, establishing QuantiParts means stronger presence in this specific market segment for Wärtsilä. The product portfolio of QuantiParts, consisting of classic engines whose production may have been discontinued, benefits from a lean operating model suited for the market segment in question.
“Establishing QuantiParts fits very well with Wärtsilä Services strategy of aligning its organisation in order to ensure optimal services for its customers. We have plenty of growth potential in this segment,” says Pierpaolo Barbone, President, Services and Executive Vice President, Wärtsilä Corporation.
In 2014, the turnover of the classic Wärtsilä engine spare parts was around 80 million euros. QuantiParts employs about 60 people in Zwolle and 11 in France. All employees are former Wärtsilä employees who bring the Wärtsilä legacy and expertise with them. QuantiParts serves its customers worldwide.
“QuantiParts is a “new business creature” where our OEM knowledge, competence and quality are merged and enhanced by speed, flexibility and exceptionally close cooperation with customers. Building a warehouse for 5 million parts

Wartsila premises, Hanzelaan 95 in Zwolle is getting ready to stock over 5 million parts for the Bolnes, Stork Werkspoor, Deutz MWM and 4 stroke Sulzer A/S engine types. At this moment parts are located in the Wärtsilä Central Distribution Center in Kampen, but with the establishment of a dedicated company(Quantiparts), for older engine types, we are building our own stocking and shipping facilities. With this change we can guarantee faster supplement of parts. The centralization of knowledge and handling facilities will change the game of spare parts trading.
The parts will be transported from the Wartsila Centralized Delivery Center in Kampen to Zwolle the coming weeks and will take about 5 weeks to complete.

Total service provider in the Power and Marine market, Wärtsilä has decided to establish a company focusing on parts supply for the engine brands: Bolnes, Deutz, Stork Werkspoor and 4stroke A/ S Sulzer.
This dedicated company will focus on serving all customers with these good old engines and this will be even better than before.

The company’s technological heritage and dedicated focus on these specific engine types helps them to supply what is needed, when its needed . Due to the new company’s lean and flexible operating model, customers benefit from focused and fast service when it comes to spare parts quotations and deliveries.

The central location of the company’s stocks will be in Zwolle, the Netherlands, enables the new company to serve you more efficiently. As it will remain part of the Wärtsilä family, there will still be access to Wärtsilä’s services, when needed. Stock transfers from Central Distribution Center of Wartsila in Kampen to Zwolle will be done the coming weeks.
The name of this dedicated team will be revealed in June.
